 Jeremy Newman has chosen to represent the interest of subscribers of Rightmove‘s services.

This Privacy Notice describes how Jeremy Newman and his legal team (we, us, our) will protect your personal data when you visit our website, contact us, register for our claim, or supply services to us. Where you interact with us on behalf of an organisation, information you provide will not be classed as personal data, but we will also protect its privacy.

The claim website is managed and maintained by Epiq Systems, Ltd. (including its affiliates and subsidiaries) who are the claims administrator acting on behalf of and under the direction of Jeremy Newman and Scott+Scott for the purposes of the claim.

Epiq Systems, Limited is a company registered in England and Wales under Company number 05343223 and which has its registered office at 110 Bishopsgate, 15th Floor, London, England, EC2N 4AY. Epiq Systems, Limited is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under registration number ZA273248.

Epiq will collect and use any personal information provided in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679 as it applies in the United Kingdom (“UK GDPR”), the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (“DUAA”), and the Data Protection Act 2018 (“DPA”). This privacy notice is based on the principles and rules set out in the UK GDPR, DUAA and DPA.

2. Scope of the privacy notice

This privacy notice applies to personal information we collect about you when you: (i) interact with us on this website; (ii) register your interest and receive periodic updates in relation to the rightmove claim and (iii) submit any enquiries via email, website form, telephone or messaging app.

  • what information we may collect for the purposes of the claim;

  • how we use that information;

  • who we share your information with and how it is protected;

  • your rights in relation to the information we hold about you;

3. What information can we collect for the purpose of this claim

If you register your interest via this Website to receive updates in relation to the Claim, you will be asked to provide certain Personal Information such as your name and email address which we will store for the purposes of updating you in relation to the Claim. We will also store any other Personal Information which you may share with us (whether online, by post, telephone, email or otherwise) in the course of the Claim.  

We do not collect more information than we need to fulfil our stated purpose.

  • Purpose of the processing: The information will be collated to gather information about potential class members or other third parties wishing to receive updates on the progress of the Claim. 

  • Categories of Personal Information: The information which we will ask you to provide will comprise names, email addresses, telephone numbers, organisation and role, IP addresses, browser types, operating systems, and any other information that you may disclose to or share with us. 

  • Recipients of Personal Information: Personal Information which you provide to us may be shared with Jeremy Newman and Scott+Scott. It may also be shared with third parties who assist us in processing the data as further explained below. If at the relevant stage of the Claim you decide to exercise your right to opt-out of the Claim we may be required to provide your details to the Competition Appeal Tribunal and the defendants if required to do so by the Tribunal. 

4. How we use your data

We will use your contact information to provide updates about the Claim and, in the event of a successful conclusion, the process by which class members are able to apply for a share of any aggregate damages award made to the class. Where contact information is provided, we have a legitimate interest in sending you necessary and proportionate emails or other communications as a means of communicating important information and updates about the Claim. 

We will retain any data we collect from you in relation to the Claim for a period up to seven years after the final conclusion of the Claim. This retention period allows us to:  

  • Respond to any queries, complaints, or claims made by you or on your behalf.  
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, fraud prevention, and other financial crime requirements, as well as legitimate business purposes.  

Once this period is concluded and your personal data in no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymize it in line with UK GDPR, DUAA and DPA requirements. 

5. Circumstances in Which We Will Share Your Data with Third Parties 

We will not share any of the information you provide during this process with any third parties for marketing purposes or store any of your information outside of the UK or the European Economic Area unless we have put equivalent protections in place.

6. Where We Store Your Personal Information

All information you provide to us is stored in the Microsoft Azure UK South environment. It may be necessary to securely transfer this information to third-party data processors within the UK and the European Economic Area to perform certain functions. We have contracts in place with our data processors and regularly audit them for compliance with national data privacy laws.

This means that they cannot do anything with your Personal Information unless we have instructed them to do so. 

Personal information collected while using our website may be shared with the following providers who assist in the storing and processing of the data: 

  • Microsoft – through its cloud computing service, Azure; 
  • MailJet – our chosen email service provider; and
  • Google Analytics – our analytics software. 

7. Security of Data

We will take all necessary technical and organisational steps to ensure that the processing of your Personal Information is performed in accordance with UK GDPR, DUAA, and the Data Protection Act 2018 and any legislation which may amend or supersede those provisions. 

Any Personal Information you enter on our site is encrypted by the use of security systems with encryption and firewalls, provided on a secure sockets layer (SSL) connection, to protect the confidentiality and integrity of your information from unauthorised access and disclosure. 

The transmission of information via the internet is not, however, completely secure. Epiq will take all reasonable care to prevent any unauthorised access to and use of your Personal Information. Although we will do our best to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee the security of the data transmitted to our Website; any transmission is at your own risk.

If you use a link on our Website to visit another website, your privacy will not be protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy. You will need to check that website’s own privacy statement. We make no representation as to the accuracy or any other aspect of information contained in other websites.
